Year 2 : Take 2

Apologies for those waiting on the edge of their seats! …or not.

It’s crazy to think that 2 years have gone by since surgery.

Unfortunately the past month (singular at least!) has been stressful on the home and job front and resulted in me gaining around 10 pounds due to poor eating choices and lack of activity. Some of the activity was due to breaking the pinky toe that I had surgery on last year and spraining my wrist. Although, I couldn’t have ran or lifted, I’m sure I could have come up with SOME activity to keep myself going, however I didn’t. Instead I ate.

It stinks, but I at least realize it and, even though the toe isn’t fully healed, ran yesterday. I didn’t do too badly, but I realize, again, that this elevation takes getting used to!

I’ve been eating a lot of carbs lately. I would love to blame my mother for this seeing as I’m here living with her while I attempt to find a job somewhere (anywhere?), but alas, I have no will power apparently!

I find that when I actually workout, I enjoy eating healthier. Yesterday, for instance; I burned almost 800 calories running intervals and what not for an hour. The rest of the day I tried to keep myself busy doing school work and just ate protein shakes and fruit (trying to cleanse the body of the crap), but then after my final was complete, I ate crap in the evening.

I need a job! I need a routine! This is what I thrive on! I had that in Michigan. Hate to say I’m sad I left there early, but I am since I have yet to find a job. I could have hung around the other job and continued to make money, get in shape, etc. DARNIT!

Oh well, hind sight…

So, yes…I’ve gained a few pounds back and am trying to get back into a routine where I can work out daily and eat healthy. It’s hard in my current living situation, but I refuse to balloon back out again!

I was doing the P90X program, but we had a week long setback where I didn’t have access to it and then during that time I decided to break my toe. I don’t know that I enjoy the P90X – there are som of its programs that are nice, but I found myself constantly hungry. I think I like the running and lifting aspect more. I think I’d like to at least start and finish the program and then try to incorporate some of the work outs I enjoyed the most (Kempo!).

I did do a 5k – I’m too lazy to see if I already blogged about this. That was fun! I did it in 37 minutes…which isn’t what I’d like, but considering I walked most of the 2nd mile due to a side stitch, not bad! I’d like to get back into running so I can do some more, though that might not happen in time for this year. We shall see!

Done quite a bit of hiking in Colorado at Horsetooth – was going every weekend until the toe thing. Stupid toe…

Anyway, just need to get back on track at this point J

Here are some pictures! I don't know that there's much change between now and the previous 18 months. There SHOULD be, as I was fit and at 181 before gaining pounds and losing muscle!

I would like to point out that the proper pants are in storage up at the ranch from when I moved. I’m bummed I didn’t have them, but figure when I finally get settled into a new place in a new location, I can take new pictures. Hopefully by then I’ll also have re-lost the weight I’ve gained in the past month!

I still have a lot of things I need to work on. I hate my stomach and arms...and legs... haha. The bruises on the arms are from mowing. I bruise easy.

And some crazy then and now! CRIPES!

  1. You look amazing! I understand the importance of routine--I am just getting back to working out after having Lincoln. I had to start with some Leslie Sansone Walking workouts, because when I tried to do my favorite Firm workouts, they killed me! You are definitely my inspiration, as I work to lose all the baby/not working/lack of routine weight. I hope the job and routine come quickly.
